Gracie Humaita Kingman is a elite Jiu Jitsu Academy located in Kingman, Arizona. Our instructors are highly trained in the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and are committed to helping students reach their highest potential. We offer classes for adults, children, and families, as well as private lessons. All of our classes focus on building strength, flexibility, and technique in a safe and supportive environment. At Gracie Jiu Jitsu Kingman we teach authentic Gracie Jiu Jitsu which has been proven to be the most effective form of self defense. Our decorated instructors will teach you everything you need to know about Jiu Jitsu from the basics of self defense to the highly technical aspects of sport Jiu Jitsu.

Rules to the Gracie System:
Rule 1: Avoid the fight at all costs. Rule 2: If physically attacked, defend yourself. Rule 3: If verbally attacked, follow the Three T-steps (talk, tell, tackle). Rule 4: Never punch or kick the bully, establish control and negotiate.
DOJO RULES
- Classes begin with a formal bow to the instructor with students lining up in order of descending rank.
- Students must also bow to the center of the mat any time they step off of it.
- Students must keep a respectful posture in the dojo at all times.
- When the instructor is demonstrating techniques during class, every student must sit in seiza position.
- For safety reasons, if you must leave the mat or leave class early, you must first ask the Professor for permission.
- The student must bow to his/her partner before and after each sparring session.
- Talking should be kept to a minimum level and should relate to the class subject matter only.
- There is absolutely NO foul language allowed in the dojo.
- There is absolutely NO belching allowed in the dojo.
- Fingernails and toenails must be kept short for everyone’s safety.
- All students must wear the official Gracie Kingman patch on the back and lapel of their Gi (uniform).
- The Gi (uniform) pants and jacket must always match (all white or all blue only).
- The Gi (uniform) must be kept clean at all times. It is recommended that it be laundered after each class. A dirty Gi is a sign of disrespect.
- The Gi (uniform) must be worn at all times unless specified.
- Students should face the wall when tying their belt.
- The belt is representative of your progress at the academy. You must keep it on at all times.
- Refer to black belt instructors as “Professor”
- All metal objects such as piercings, rings, necklaces, and other jewelry items must be removed prior to stepping on the mat.
- No shoes, food or drink items are allowed on the mat.
- Shoes should be removed and lined up neatly against the wall or stored in a cubby, away from the walkway areas.
- Cell phones should be set on silent at all times in the dojo. Please refrain from loud phone coversations.
- Students in the lobby area should keep noise to a minimum to not to disturb other classes in session.

BIO:
Marcus Porter is a dedicated practitioner of Jiu Jitsu, holding a second-degree black belt earned under the tutelage of Nick Stefan and Royler Gracie. Hailing from Vista, CA, Marcus’s journey in Jiu Jitsu began when he, like many others, witnessed the transformative power of the sport while watching UFC One. Since then, Jiu Jitsu has become his passion, offering him invaluable personal growth and a means to uplift others. Marcus believes that Jiu Jitsu provides therapeutic comfort unlike anything else and instills values such as humbleness, gratitude, and integrity, which he holds dear.--
SAFETY AND BJJ ETIQUETTE:
Don't hurt or injure your BJJ training partners. The expression "Don't break your toys" is an often phrase used.
Use technique, not strength when rolling and extrapolate the easiest and most effective way of preforming the move you are utilizing.
Do not try to overpower your training partner with muscle power and brute force.
This is training, not competition. If you want to sign up for Fight 2 Win or Full Contact Jiu Jitsu, I got you!
Never punch, kick or slam on the mat to try and gain position or control or escape from holds or position.
Please refrain from attempting any Technique/Move you are not 100% familiar with and can potentially injure your training partner.
Always have hightened awarness of surroundings at ALL times.
